Storm Water Management

Stormwater runoff is rain or melted snow that is not absorbed into the ground, used by plants, or evaporated into the atmosphere. The public storm sewer system in Indian Hill collects and conveys stormwater runoff to the Little Miami River. Stormwater is not cleaned and processed at a treatment plant before it outlets to an open waterway.

The City of the Village of Indian Hill is defined by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) to own and operate a Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4). As part of the permitting requirements under the EPA’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Phase II (NPDES II) program, Indian Hill established a Storm Water Master Plan (SWMP) in 2024. The Village adopted several storm water management ordinances, and has detention and storm water quality treatment requirements for developments with 1,000 SF or more of new impervious surface, and/or 5,000 SF or more of disturbed area.  Additionally, the Village is a member of the Regional Storm Water Collaborative, which helps to meet some of OEPA's other Minimum Control Measures.
