Why are copper levels being monitored in the water system?

USEPA Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) specifically requires lead and copper monitoring and actions to minimize these contaminants at consumers’ taps. The IHWW conducts scheduled monitoring of lead and copper in the tap water at a select number of residences within the Village’s service area as required.  Copper levels in public water systems are monitored primarily to assess for signs of corrosion of copper pipes.
