The Indian Hill Charter was first approved by Indian Hill voters on December 16, 1941.  Since that time, it has been amended five times, with the last voter approved changed taking place in 1999.  The Charter acts as the City’s constitution.  In 2019, Council created the Charter Review Subcommittee to assess the entire Charter.  The four primary goals of the Committee were: (1) to make the Charter easier to understand and use; (2) to eliminate discrepancies and clarify confusing language within the Charter; (3) to highlight home rule authority which allows the Village, rather than the State, to determine practices that best fit the community; and (4) to bring the Charter in line with current best practices.

The following are updates on the Charter Review subcommittee’s and Council’s 2019-2020 process:

On March 17, 2020, Indian Hill residents will have the opportunity to vote on Issue 1 which represents the recommended revisions to the City’s Charter.  As with any election, Indian Hill encourages all voters to exercise their right to vote on March 17th.    If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or 513-561-6500.
