Dear Fellow Indian Hill Residents,

As you no doubt are aware, the State of Ohio and the Village of Indian Hill are working hard to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our communities. The success of this endeavor, however, will be determined by the individual choices we make in the next few days and weeks.

On March 9, 2020, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine responded to the spread of COVID-19 by signing an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Ohio. More recently, on March 17, the Director of the Ohio Department of Health issued an amended order prohibiting “mass gatherings” in Ohio. A “mass gathering” is any event or convening with 50 or more people in a single room or space at once, including parades, fairs, and festivals. While not mandatory, the order strongly recommends that Ohioans avoid unnecessary non-familial social gatherings of more than ten people, in accordance with the federal government’s coronavirus guidelines issued March 16, 2020.

The Village of Indian Hill is following the lead of Governor DeWine and the State of Ohio and is implementing measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. As members of the Indian Hill community, we all need to be mindful of ways to protect not only ourselves and our families, but also to ensure the safety of the entire community. Only together can we help prevent the spread of this disease among our residents and the community. To be successful, we need the commitment and cooperation of everyone in Indian Hill. You can make a difference in this fight by practicing social distancing—i.e., maintaining enough distance (six feet or more) from another person to avoid getting infected or infecting someone else. Even when outside, it is advised to maintain a distance of six feet or more from others.

These are indeed difficult times and we are sensitive to the challenges that we may still face ahead. Each day brings new information that can make us anxious. However, by working together as a community, we can make a difference and help slow the spread of this highly contagious virus. Please be assured that Village staff is monitoring this situation very closely and will continue to provide updates as necessary.

On behalf of Village Council, we wish you and your family good health and all the best in these difficult times.
